Just for myself a reflective perspective.
Do you find your self with impeccable words? Or do you find your self much less than what you think you are? Not to put you on the spot but this is One of The Four Agreements from Miguel Ángel Ruiz.
1. Be Impeccable With Your Word.
2. Don’t Take Anything Personally.
3. Don’t Make Assumptions.
4. Always Do Your Best.
Ruiz also wrote a companion book to The Four Agreements. He then wrote several other books, including The Voice of Knowledge, Prayers, and The Mastery of Love.
Don Miguel Ruiz’s son Don Jose Ruiz has subsequently released a sequel, The Fifth Agreement, which adds a further agreement:
5. Be Skeptical but Learn to Listen.
Your intentions are not to be over bearing or presumptuous, you only seek what is best and in favor of your own friendship and open mindedness, you ask many questions, not to expect from your self more than what you can offer or are willing to give. If you are seeking refuge from within or are still uncertain then exploration is what you should be doing.
Don’t let me distract you from being happy. You are not Socrates an Ancient Greek but rather a thinker and labor not to write what you know but to gather what it is that others have written. In doing so it helps you to better understand the worlds/your future. You may not be able to change what it is you dearly hope for, tho should it not be your responsibility to question authority if it should cause him harm? You are as perplexed as the many to some how sort out the harm that coexists with a form of government.
You think right now you may be trying to do the same thing that the common man is doing and that is, to simply get through this life the best you can. Regretfully, change requires giving of your self in ways that darkness causes fear, light reflects a more blinding effect, dawn and sunset gives rise to more questions on the horizon.
You come from a military family who sought freedom and justice. A conviction to up hold what was right on most occasions. Granted you are not perfect but you continue to seek answers. Exploring alternatives that might some how help you to cope in a world of abuse to the environment.
Note: The Four Agreements from Miguel Ángel Ruiz interests me and I hope to perhaps learn more about him and his son.
